Marytza J. Reyes is a nationally recognized employment litigator with more than 25 years of experience representing national and regional employers across a broad spectrum of industries, including banking, food service, retail, logistics, health care, and nonprofit organizations. She regularly defends employers in high stakes discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, and wrongful termination actions, and advises clients in complex wage and hour disputes. Marytza also has deep expertise counseling and litigating matters involving disability, leave, and workplace accommodation issues. In addition to her employment practice, Marytza frequently litigates employment related business disputes, including trade secret, unfair competition, defamation, breach of contract, and fraud matters. She oversees all phases of litigation—from strategy and discovery through mediation, trial, and appeal—and serves as CoChair of S&A’s Employment Litigation, Investigations, and Counseling Group.
Marytza is particularly sought after for conducting sensitive, high-level workplace investigations, including matters involving executive leadership and enterprise wide EEO allegations. She has conducted over 100 high-level investigations and leads a specialized team of four partners and three associates handling internal investigations as well as responses to government investigations, audits, and administrative hearings.
An engaging and highly regarded speaker, Marytza is frequently invited to present on employment litigation topics, with a special focus on executive level investigations and sexual harassment issues. She also holds numerous leadership roles within the Los Angeles County Bar Association, currently serving as ViceChair of the Labor & Employment Section, a member of the Executive Committee, and former Chair of the Annual Symposium Committee, and is also a member of LACBA’s PACWomen Committee. Nationally, she is active with the National Employment Law Council, where she serves as CoChair of the Webinars Committee, CoChair of the Los Angeles Regional Receptions Committee, and former Annual Conference Programming Chair. Marytza is also a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators, the American Bar Association, the California Minority Counsel Program, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, and Women Lawyers of Los Angeles. Marytza was recently elected to the prestigious College of Labor & Employment Lawyers following an extensive vetting process, in recognition of her sustained contributions to the field and her commitment to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and character. She was also named as a 2026 Legal Visionary by the Los Angeles Times.
Prior to joining Sanchez Amador & Reyes, Marytza practiced for seven years with the Labor & Employment Group of Reed Smith, following seven years handling employment and commercial litigation with Thelen LLP and its predecessor firm. She earned her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and her B.A. in Political Science from UCLA. Marytza is fluent in written and spoken Spanish. Marytza is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit, all California U.S. District Courts, and all courts in the State of California.
