Employment Litigation and Counseling

Maksimilian Sklyarov regularly advises national and regional employers on California’s wage and hour laws, and represents employers in lawsuits alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related theories. Before joining Sanchez Amador & Reyes, Maks was an associate with a plaintiff-side employment boutique, where he gained valuable insight into how plaintiffs’ counsel approach and litigate cases. Maks leverages his prior experience as a plaintiffs’ attorney to develop and implement creative and effective advice and litigation strategies that secure exceptional results for clients. Maks has significant experience preparing human resources, executive, and expert witnesses to testify. He recently served as second chair trial counsel in two high-risk, high exposure arbitrations, putting on extensive witness testimony, arguing all evidentiary issues before the tribunals, and drafting the closing briefs to secure complete defense awards in both matters.

Maks received his law degree from UCLA School of Law in 2017, earning the distinction of Order of the Coif. During law school, he served as a Writing Advisor to first year law students, Articles Editor and Chief Articles Editor for the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs, and received the Michael T. Masin Scholar Award.

Maks is actively involved in the Labor & Employment Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and currently serves on the Saturday Seminar Committee. He is also a member of the Barristers/Young Attorneys Section. Maks is fluent in spoken and written Russian and proficient in spoken Ukrainian.
